The Research Equity Innovation Fund    

We provide capital for companies creating or commercialising new non-environmental products and services.

The Research Equity Innovation Fund provides capital to companies who possess credible innovations in any industry.

We use a simple investment strategy- we look for businesses that can or will fulfill our five key investment criteria. We do not ask potential investment companies to prepare documents or application forms to prove how they fulfill these criteria. We do not expect that investment companies will even fulfill all of the criteria now.

We do expect that, with a little help from us, the criteria will become as important to them as they are to us.   

The Clean Technology and Water Fund  

Research Equity Group supports early stage companies with technological innovations that address a market demand for environmental improvement. These technologies should lead to a more efficient use scarce environmental resources or reduce harmful waste.

We have a preference for companies that specialise in one of the following:

• energy efficiency and storage,
• renewable energy generation and alternative fuels,
• carbon sequestration,
• environmental trading mechanisms,
• water purification and management,
• green buildings,

This fund is focused on generating commercial profit exclusively from clean technology and specific water solutions.

We use the same set of commercial investment criteria as we do for our innovation fund. In addition to this, companies must demonstrate a clear environmental benefit through new technology, new water management systems, management and reduction of green house gases, or to manage and market carbon credits.

A major part of the success of clean technology commercialisation has been driven by Government financial support working in partnership with private equity. By adopting the same set on environmental investment criteria as the relevant Government bodies, we are establishing a strong and credible relationship with our Government partners.

By utilising a wide range of Government Grants and incentives as well as our own Clean-Tech and Water Systems Investment Fund, we are building a financial platform that will deliver quantifiable environmental benefits and generate commercial profit.

Fund Investment Criteria    

Our five key investment criteria are:

• There must be innovation,
• Management experience and leadership skills must be evident and secure,
• A proven, commercially sound, financial model which promotes capital efficiency and incorporates a well planned exit strategy,
• A differentiated Product with a clear and sustainable market advantage,
• An expandable and defendable market that is large enough to generate an identified level of return.

Having identified potential investment companies, we work with the entrepreneurs to ensure that the 5 Investment Criteria are put into place.   The investment criteria are what we believe makes a successful investment company. Companies with innovative technologies will not always fulfill the Five Criteria immediately. We do provide assistance to many entrepreneurs to ensure that they can fulfill all of the criteria.   

The Application Process

The Application Process is the same for each fund. You contact us, we set up a time to discuss your business and understand how your innovation and product development is structured. We then do our limited due diligence and provide you with a response within 5 working days.Our response will be structured as follows:

1. Our assessment of your company, based on our five investment criteria,
2. Our overall assessment of risk for the venture,
3. Our suggested capital financing plan,
4. Our fee structure and costs to execute this plan,
5. An outline of the information we will require to execute this plan,
6. Project plan time lines,
7. Our standard retainer contract.

Once you have signed the retainer contract, we complete our due diligence process, we start the Investment Plan.

We Utilise Three Funding Options    

Our own Emerging Innovation and Clean Technology Fund:  These funds has been created to provide significant levels of capital to companies who have innovative, new products that are already producing income.  These funds provides investment to speed the commercialisation process up rather than to start it up

Government Grants and Entitlement programs: As part of our investment planning, we always investigate the opportunity for companies to maximise their returns through all available means of Government assistance.

Our own private investment network: We have our own strong network of private capital sources as well the ability to source capital through a variety of international investment vehicles.In addition to our own network we have access to a large Angel Investment program with access to over 485 Investment Angels.
